AFE Technical Virtual Session: Lean on Us! An Introduction to Technical Assistance to Brownfields Resources in Alaska
March 15 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Revitalizing abandoned and environmentally impacted properties requires knowledge, capacity, and skills. We know every small community has limited capacity, thus the Center for Creative Land Recycling (CCLR) and Tribal TAB are dedicated to providing technical assistance, regulatory, planning, and development resources to communities taking on brownfield initiatives. As the Region 10 Technical Assistance to Brownfields (TAB) provider, CCLR will briefly discuss brownfield history and fundamentals before diving into current funding opportunities for brownfield projects, and their free technical assistance services which are available to communities with active or potential brownfield sites. As part of their one-on-one services, CCLR provides grant writing support and reviews, community visioning and planning for reuse, resource and redevelopment roadmaps, grant management training, and more. Tribal TAB works closely with federal and state agencies to assist communities/tribes in their revitalization efforts of brownfields sites and brings university educational and technical resources as well as industry/consulting experience to communities affected by environmental issues at brownfield sites. No brownfield question is too small! CCLR and Tribal TAB are committed to the success of the communities we serve by providing support during each step of the brownfield redevelopment process and assistance in navigating potential challenges. Attend this session to receive the resources you need to feel confident in addressing community concerns and engaging in impactful land reuse.
This session was originally presented in-person at AFE 2023, but due to technical difficulties the recording did not work so the presenters are presenting again for the virtual audience.
