AFE 2022: Dark Skies: – Illuminating their Importance in Alaska

February 23 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Where there are humans, there is artificial light. But dark skies – free of artificial lighting – are beneficial for animals and humans. Artificial light can impede animal migrations and interfere with circadian rhythms of animals and people. And excessive artificial lighting is annoying and costly, as well as a waste of energy. Come hear about ways you can benefit from reducing artificial lighting – from cost savings to being a better neighbor. It’s time to say “lights out” to excessive artificial light.

Presenters:
Steve Carhart, Advocate, International Dark-Sky Association
Ruskin Hartley, Executive Director, International Dark-Sky Association

Moderator: Bridget Crokus, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
