AFE 2022: Introducing Microreactors

February 7, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Microreactor technology is an innovative nuclear fuel supply that may help communities and countries, worldwide, move forward towards meeting net-zero emissions goals. Microreactors can be a primary source of energy to indigenous communities, remote mines and islands, along with many others, to ensure those locations are not without power. Many times, weather conditions can affect energy supplies, leaving communities without power, days or even weeks at a time. This presentation will be focused on how Micro Reactors can not only help drive net-zero emissions, but will also describe the benefits of having a clean energy source while providing assurance of a secure energy supply while addressing potential and perceived risks.

Moderator: Bob Loeffler, UAA
Presenter: Mike Valore, Senior Director, Advanced Reactor Commercialization, Westinghouse Electric Company
