AFE 2021: From Ocean to Kitchen – Small-Scale Fisheries and Sustainable Food Systems in Alaska

March 24 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Alaskans Own (AO)  is a non-profit program of the Alaska Longline Fishermen’s Association and the Alaska Sustainable Fisheries Trust. AO was the first Community Supported Fisher
program in Alaska and benefits and provides local consumers with healthy, local food sources while promoting sustainable small-scale fisheries and supporting our coastal communities.

This session will focus on programs such as ALFA’s Fishery Conservation Network, the Seafood Donation Program and other efforts to ensure the health and longevity of Alaskan fisheries. We will investigate the connections between small-scale fisheries, sustainable, local food systems, healthy resources, climate change, and the impacts on local fishing communities.

Presenter: Natalie Sattler, Program Director for Alaska Longline Fishermen’s Association and Alaska Sustainable Fisheries Trust
