AFE 2021: Marine Debris Removal, Prevention and Response: Projects, Efforts and Observations
February 10 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
In this session you’ll hear from members of the Alaska marine debris community on recent and planned efforts, what they’re finding, and what they’re learning. Across Alaska there is an active and innovative marine debris community working to clean debris from shorelines. These projects use diverse methods but all have the common goal of removing debris and preventing impacts to the environment. This can be through cleaning debris from shorelines, working to change behaviors and prevent more debris from entering the ocean, or responding to acute events such as the influx of debris in the Bering Strait region beginning in late summer 2020. If you are leading current cleanups, planning new efforts, or want to better understand current work on marine debris, this is a great opportunity to learn from those already working on the issue.
