AFE 2021: Climate Change 101

This session will provide a detailed overview of resources and support available to Tribes to begin to address climate change. It will include an overview of allowable activities for Indian General environmental Assistance workplans, resources and technical assistance. The focus will be on approaches to developing climate adaptation actions through building partnerships based on traditional knowledge and tribal priorities. Michelle Davis and Wilson Justin will be the presenters. Mr. Justin is a cultural ambassador for Cheesh’na Tribal council and serves as a Vice Chair Board of Directors for Mt. Sanford Tribal Consortium. He relays his expertise and perspective on the intricacies of Indigenous governance in Alaska through adapting cultural traditions, creating a constitution, navigating citizenship, and asserting rights of Indigenous people. Michelle Davis serves as a Tribal Coordinator with the US EPA in the Region 10’s Tribal Trust and Assistance Division.
